We will meet at a local coffee shop in quaint downtown Chapin for a beverage of your choice and drive about ten minutes to a private residence, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Murray, to interact with a variety of South Carolina fish and koi. We will learn some history about Lake Murray, the wildlife found here, and experience feeding and snorkeling with a variety of native fish in a natural pool and certified wildlife habitat.
Suitable for younger children, there are several waterfalls to enjoy and five pool depths... 4 inches, 8 inches, 1.5 feet, 3 feet, and 6.5 feet in addition to the waters of Lake Murray.
The fish and wildlife variety and quantity are constantly changing. We will let you know in advance what to expect on your visit! Please apply sunscreen thirty minutes beforehand and minimize the use of lotions & hair products to help keep chemicals out of the natural pool ecosystem. Sun shirts are recommended. Water shoes are not required but nice to have as the docks and patios can heat up in the sun.
The event is rain or shine. Feel free to request evening and nighttime slots, if desired. If you are SCUBA qualified, there are options available to dive. Please let the host know in advance.
For winter months, please request to book as we will need wetsuits and more advance planning.
Ben is U.S. Coast Guard Captain, fishing guide, and Lake Murray diver. I have access to a certified wildlife habitat built to rehabilitate, foster, and educate people on native fish, wildlife, and koi. I’ve spent my life on the water as a US Navy officer and offshore sailing skipper. Excited to welcome you to this experience!
He will provide Snacks, Drinks, Masks, Snorkels, and PDFs. People that are assisting people with Disabilities also are offered free admission.
